Ami Whilden is in her second year with the volleyball team and first year with the tennis team. This is her first full-year as a Physical Education Teacher at FPCA. In her first season with the volleyball team, she coached the team to its first win in the state play-offs against Bethlehem Christian Academy. The team had 3 All-Region Performers; Morgan Dixon (Sr), Megan Gillon (Jr), Alexandria Moses (So). Morgan Dixon was also named to the state Senior All-Star Team.
Prior to coming to FPCA, Coach Ami was officiating with the Hinesville Officials Association and coached the Liberty County High School Soccer Team. While teaching at Walker Middle School (Ludowici, GA), she was the Athletic Director for the middle school teams. She has coached and officiated volleyball at all levels from Middle School to Division I. She coached tennis at South Florida Community College, basketball and softball at Hardee County (FL)Junior High, and Men’s Collegiate Volleyball at Springfield College (MA).
For two years, Coach Ami officiated the FPCA volleyball games. These games allowed her to see the atmosphere between the players, their families, and the school personnel. She decided to send her resume into Sammi Hester and the Athletic Director, in an attempt to join this “family”. After being hired to work with the volleyball team, she was then asked to be the interim Athletic Director. Being a part of the school full-time and meeting even more people, just reinforced her first impression. The school is truly a “Family by CHOICE”
