Coach Tom Sukaratana is the PE teacher for Pre-K and Elementary students at FPCA. He is also the Junior Varsity Girls and Boys Head Soccer Coach as well as the Varsity Girls and Boys Head Soccer Coach. Coach Tom graduated from the University of the Ozarks (formerly College of the Ozarks) in 1973. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Art in Fine Arts.
His coaching career began in 1974. He has coached at the Recreation level, College level (Mercer University and Wesleyan College) , Club level and High School level. He founded the Hinesville Gators traveling soccer teams in 1983. They are affiliated with USYSA (United States Youth Soccer Association). Between the Liberty County Recreation Department and the Hinesville Gators (in numerous age divisions) he earned 28 State titles and 4 runner up titles. Seven of the titles were through Georgia Recreation and Parks and nineteen were with USYSA. He has also had 30 undefeated seasons between the two organizations.
Coach Tom was a former evaluator with the Georgia State Olympic Development Training Program. He is a USSF licensed coach and NSCAA goalkeeper coach. He is also a former referee assessor and currently holds R7 referee certification.
In 2007, Coach Tom was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame for Liberty County. He has been awarded All Region Coach as well named Coach of the Year for GISA two times. In 2004, Coach Tom lead the Bulloch Academy Gators boys soccer team to clinch the AA State title. In 2008, he lead the FPCA boys soccer team to the Final Four. In 2009 he lead the FPCA boys soccer team to the Region championship and came in second in the State championship. In 2012, the FPCA girls soccer team made it to the State finals under Coach Tom where they came in second place.
Over 50 scholarships have been earned by Coach Tom's former players in Division I, II, III and NAIA. Some have also gone on to coach at the high school and college level. He is married to Debra Clark Sukaratana of Hinesville. They have one 16 year old son, Clark who is a Junior and has attended FPCA since Pre-school.
The Highlander boy’s soccer program is open to grades 6 – 12 and is led by local legend Tom Sukaratana. Currently, the boy’s soccer season runs from August through late fall. Coach Sukaratana has been coaching soccer for several decades and has produced many outstanding soccer players throughout his career. Coach Sukaratana won a state championship at Bulloch Academy in 2005 and has brought the FPCA boy’s team to the final four in 2009.
The Lady Lander’s girl’s soccer program is open to grades 6 – 12 and is led by local legend Tom Sukaratana. The girl’s soccer program runs from February through May. Coach Sukaratana has been coaching soccer for several decades and has produced many outstanding soccer players throughout his career. Coach Sukaratana won a boy’s state championship at Bulloch Academy in 2005 and has brought the FPCA boy’s team to the final four in 2009. The girl’s squad advanced to the 2nd round of the state playoffs in 2011.
