Highlander Spirit Week

FPCA is having a blast this week with their dress down spirit week to support the Student Council and the Miss FPCA pageant. All proceeds from this week will go towards the pageant. Monday is fashion disaster day; the tackier, the better! Tuesday is the day to represent your favorite college, professional, or high school team! Wednesday is National Talk Like A Pirate day so students are encouraged to try out their pirate accents while also dressing like a pirate. Thursday is Formal Day! FPCA will be dressed in their best! Friday represents the International Day of Peace; therefore, students are asked to wear the color purple. More information about this international day of celebration can be found at http://www.internationaldayofpeace.org/.
FPCA is looking forward to October 9, 2012. Mark your calendars because the Under Armor Competition begins and FPCA administration, staff, and students are determined to bring home the gold this year! Stay tuned for more details!

Pass, Set, Spike!

Volleyball season is in full swing. The girls have worked hard at practice and are really improving. They have played some very tough competition out-of-region so far this season. While there have been changes to line-ups and positions, the girls are adapting and really making the team better. They have started Region play and are 1-1. Our best game was against Heritage. They lost the match but you could see how good these girls are going to become.

This weekend there is a tournament at Heritage, They will come away from that tournament even better and ready to take on the rest of our region opponents. Remember most of them are also Cheerleaders so have twice the practices a week as other athletes.  Please wish them luck when you see them.

The JV volleyball season has begun as well and already the girls are showing their experience.  Although the team is comprised of girls from grades 7-11, the Highlanders are comprised of mostly veterans.  The record thus far is 2-2, noting wins against Providence in two sets and a thrilling three game win against Heritage, where the girls lost the first set, and came from behind to win the next two.

While the whole team has contributed to this success, the Lady Landers have had stand out performances by Cecilia Graham, Mary-Kathryn Whitney, and Michelle Roberts.  The next home game is Thursday, September 27, and we’d love the Lander support!!
